Elaine Greene
Artist
By deconstructing and then reorganizing reclaimed cardboard and paper, I create mixed media collage and assemblage. When I discover papers, cardboard, and packing materials, I see their potential beauty. I build each piece thinking of shape, color, pattern, rhythm and how they all interact with one another. I allow the unforeseen to emerge.

My Story

I construct my artwork by using both internal and external references, solving conceptual challenges along the way. I would like my audience to ask themselves "what thoughts are emerging as I view this work." Discover your own unforeseen references as you "see" my art.
I have been influenced by Robert Rauschenberg's innovative use of nontraditional materials, Louise Nevelson's wall installations and Henri Matisse's use of pattern and color.
My work has been shown in regional and national exhibitions. It is included in private collections in California, Connecticut, Maine, New Jersey, New York and Florida.
